Accessing Microsoft Imagine

Purpose: To assist students in accessing their Microsoft Imagine accounts and downloading software.

Lake Superior College students who enroll in CIS classes benefit from free memberships to Microsoft's DreamSpark service as well as the similar VMware OnTheHub. Through Imagine, students have access to a wide variety of Microsoft's operating systems, office suites, developer tools, and other applications. VMware OnTheHub gives access to many personal and professional hypervisor products. These memberships are valid for the duration of a student's time at LSC.

In order to access their Imagine accounts, students should follow these directions:

  1. From a web browser, click on this link to LSC Microsoft Imagine or this link to VMware OnTheHub. From here on the screenshots will be for Imagine, but OnTheHub should act in exactly the same way.

  2. Click on the Sign In link near the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  3. CIS students usernames will be the first two letters of your name with a underscore, followed by the first six letters of your last name. For example Wedge Antilles would be we_antill.

  4. Click on "register" then type in your user name.  This will bring you to another screen and you will be able to fill out your information. If you are having trouble getting to this page  contact the CIS workers by email at

  5. Once you are logged in, you will see your DreamSpark home page. From this page, you can navigate through all of the available Microsoft software by choosing a category from the list shown at center.

  6. To download software, browse through the categories and locate the specific application desired. Once you have selected an item, you may be prompted to choose a specific platform (ex. 32-bit or 64-bit) or version (ex. Professional, Enterprise) of the software. Once you have identified the correct platform and version, click the Add to Cart button next to that item.
