Demonstrate how to use VMWare's Secure Download Manager (SDM) to retrieve software.
1. This page assumes that you have already found and added to your cart the software you want on VMWare on the Hub. If you need help doing this, refer to the Accessing DreamSpark
2. Once you have added a product to your cart you can check out. You must accept VMWare's EULA and enter your name and email address. Once you have done this you will see your receipt. This is where your download link and product key are. Save the product key; it will be needed when activating your software.
3. Click the Start Download link. This will bring you to a new page with the items that you just bought listed and a download button below each piece of software. Click on the appropriate download button under each piece of software to begin the download. The download should show up in your internet browser's window.
4. Now open the folder location where the software was downloaded to. From there, double click the software and that will launch the installer. Make sure to have the product key handy to insert when prompted during the installation.
Note: An alternative to downloading the software from VMWare on the Hub is to use the local file share on campus and download the VMWare workstation or player software from the "Software" folder. Directions for accessing the file share can be found here.
After installing the software, you would only need to insert the product key from your VMWare on the Hub receipt, as shown above.
